Board Members
The Founding Coalition of NACS is made up of individuals committed to improving public education opportunity for students in the Norristown area.
Robert J. Montemayor
President of the board
Mr. Robert J. Montemayor is a Montgomery County resident and a retired licensed banker. Mr. Montemayor received his education in Upper Merion schools and is a graduate of Penn State University.
Mr. Montemayor is a former Upper Merion Supervisor and chaired the Upper Merion Township Zoning Hearing Board. He has also served on various other Upper Merion Township boards, commissions, civic groups and charities, including serving for 16 years on the Montgomery County Visitors and Convention Board.
Mr. Montemayor brings a significant background in banking and finance, a thorough understanding of local municipal government, and many years of leadership in local government to the NACS Board of Trustees.
Ms. Greays Mendoza
Ms. Greays Mendoza is a parent to students of the Norristown Area School District. Ms. Mendoza has been active in her children’s schooling and has been a proactive member of the parent community. She has served on the Parent Faculty Association of Paul V. Fly Elementary School, where she has been a steadfast advocate for improved opportunities for Norristown’s students.
Ms. Mendoza has also served as a volunteer for many community organizations including the ACCPA Art Center, the Jake Moletzky Run2Remeber 5K, and Fairview Village Nazarene Church.
Ms. Mendoza brings a very important perspective to the NACS Board of Trustees as she represents so many parents who want to see alternative public education offered in Norristown.
Phil Mandato
Mr. Phil Mandato has lived in and been a taxpayer in the Norristown Area School District for over 40 years. Mr. Mandato is a retired concrete contractor and has been active in the West Norriton community and served on various committees for extended periods of time. Mr. Mandato served as a West Norriton Commissioner for 8 years.
Mr. Mandato, through his experience as a contractor and taxpayer, his extended service on numerous local committees, and his leadership as a West Norriton Commissioner for 8 years, brings a business person’s perspective, a taxpayer’s perspective, a local resident’s perspective, and a leader’s perspective to the NACS Board of Trustees.
Mario J. Civera Jr.
Mr. Civera has more than 43 years of experience in state and local government and currently works with the Delaware County Redevelopment Authority. Mr. Civera served his country with distinction in the United State Air Force and has been a self-employed businessman since 1971. Mr. Civera owns and operates Civera's Delicatessen in Drexel Hill for over 34 years. He also served as a member of the Upper Darby Council from 1974 to 1992 and was Chairman of the Public Safety Committee.
Mr. Civera served as a two term elected member of Delaware County Council from January 2010 until January 2018, including serving as both Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Delaware County Council.
Mr. Civera served as a member of the State House of Representatives from 1980 through 2010 was elected twice by his colleagues to serve as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, where he was responsible for helping to craft Pennsylvania's annual budget of about $28 billion.
Nicholas A. Salamone
Mr. Salamone has resided in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County for over 78 years.
Mr. Salamone has significant knowledge of the Norristown Area School District as he is a licensed Real Estate Broker and has owned his own business in Plymouth Meeting for over 53 years, including being a member of both the Montgomery County Board of Realtors, the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and a member of the National Association of Realtors.
Mr. Salamone was a member of Plymouth Township Council for six years and served as Chairman of the Plymouth Township Council. Additionally he has served his community in the following capacities: twelve years on the Plymouth Township Zoning Board; a past member of the Plymouth Township Air Pollution Board; a past member of the Plymouth Whitemarsh Historical Architectural Review Board; a member of the Knights of Columbus; a member of the American Legion; a Pennsylvania National Guard member for two years; and he served four years in the United States Army including serving several years in Japan.
